Expanding Healthcare Access: Introducing Our New Mobile Medical Unit
At Clínica del Buen Pastor Mountain Hope, we believe that healthcare should be accessible to all, no matter where you live or your circumstances. That’s why we’re excited to announce a major step forward in making healthcare easier to access for the people of Sevier County: our new Mobile Medical Unit. This innovative service is designed to meet people where they are, bringing medical, behavioral, and community health services directly to neighborhoods and remote areas.
Why a Mobile Medical Unit?
For many in Sevier County, getting to a doctor’s office isn’t always easy. Transportation barriers, work schedules, family commitments, and health challenges can make it difficult for individuals and families to access the care they need. We’ve listened to our community and heard these concerns, and we’re responding with a solution that brings the care to you. This project was made possible thanks to a grant from Tennessee Department of Health, and we are deeply grateful for Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Alvarado and team, for the focus on improving rural access to healthcare.
Our new mobile unit is more than just a convenient option—it’s a lifeline for those who might otherwise go without healthcare. Whether you’re dealing with a chronic condition that needs management or seeking mental health support, our mobile unit will be there to provide the same compassionate, high-quality care that Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic is known for.
What Services Will the Mobile Unit Offer?
The Mobile Medical Unit is fully equipped to offer a wide range of services, including:
Primary Care: Routine check-ups, treatment for common illnesses, and ongoing care for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
Behavioral Health Services: Access to mental health care, including consultations with licensed professionals and assistance with behavioral health medications.
Community Health Resources: Education on topics like nutrition, disease prevention, and mental wellness, all aimed at improving the overall health of our community.
In addition to these services, the mobile unit will be a point of connection to resources such as medication assistance and referrals to other specialized care when needed.
How to Access Mobile Health Services
We want to make sure that everyone in Sevier County has the opportunity to benefit from this new resource. The mobile unit will travel to various locations throughout the county, bringing healthcare directly to communities that may have limited access. We’ll be posting a full schedule of locations and service times on our website and social media channels, so you’ll always know where and when to find us.
Appointments will be available for those seeking care through the mobile unit, and we encourage residents to call 865-774-7684 to schedule a visit. We’ll be serving patients who live or work in Sevier County, and our sliding fee scale will continue to apply, ensuring that care is affordable for all.
