Family Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Full Time

Summary:

Use a team-based model to provide quality healthcare and treatment to patients while practicing within the licensed scope of practice.

Roles and Responsibilities to include the following:

 

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

  • Performs physical examination and clinical treatment based on evidence-based practice.
  • Assisting in the training and support of the medical staff
  • Based on clinical assessment, orders lab and diagnostic testing, provides interpretation and patient instructions based on results.
  • Fostering healthy relationships with area health systems
  • Evaluating the coordination of the medical team to ensure the success of services
  • Ensuring that licenses are up to date
  • Interviewing patients to obtain history, performing physical examination, ordering lab and other tests, prescribing medications and treatments.
  • Making referrals for secondary and tertiary care.
  • Performing medical procedures as approved.
  • Providing health maintenance visits, evaluating for immunizations, and providing anticipatory guidance and referrals; performing contract and special physical examinations as EPSDT, HeadStart, employment, etc; performing STD (sexually transmitted disease) and family planning screening and education.
  • Documenting all patient contact accurately and legibly on the medical record.
  • Performing as an active member of the medical team
  • Participates in Quality Improvement (QI), Quality Assurance(QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement Activities (CQI) as appropriate

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Current licensure as an PA or FNP  to practice in the State of Tennessee by the appropriate licensing board.
  • Current DEA license
  • Current BLS Certification required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards
  • Knowledge of MHGSC Policies and Procedures and services

 

Skills:

  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in initiating appropriate emergency procedures
  • Skill in handling a number of tasks simultaneously

 

Abilities:

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups

Computer Skills:

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, electronic Medical Records software, and use of computer and email.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • BLS Certification required.
  • Successful completion of Title VI, HIPPA and OSHA training
  • Maintain professional certification and licenses in the state of Tennessee
