Paula Strange joined the Mountain Hope Good Shepherd staff in August as Director of Operations, with the task of keeping things running smoothly as the Clinic sees hundreds of patients each week. She does a lot of human resources work such as payroll and new hires, but also orders supplies and ensures the Clinic’s compliance with OSHA and HIPAA rules. Her computer skills come in handy too.

She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in management from Lincoln Memorial University. A Cocke County native, she worked for 12 years in a doctor’s office in Newport, eventually becoming the practice administrator for three offices. For the past two years, she managed the office of  Sevier Solid Waste before coming to the Clinic.

Paula has lived in Cocke County all her life. She grew up in the Hartford area and now travels to Sevierville from her home in Parrottsville every day. In her spare time she loves to hunt, fish and hike. “I like to bear hunt with my dad and brother,” she said. Trout fishing in the little creeks is another favorite pastime. Outdoor activities are traditional in her family, she said. When she can’t be outdoors she likes to read.

“I like everything about the Clinic,” she said. She likes helping people, and “the medical field is my passion,” she says. The medical providers “do such great work here,” and although she has no medical training she likes to help people in other ways whenever she can–the Clinic seems a perfect fit.  Her talents are greatly appreciated at Mountain Hope as she helps in her new administrative role.
