Corlis is a longtime volunteer for Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic who became a board member.

She is a native of Southeast Missouri, who earned a degree in pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. She has worked in retail pharmacy since 1978, including nearly 30 years with Kroger Pharmacy, at first in the Memphis area.

She and her husband, Tom, often visited this area, so in 1999, when their oldest child graduated from high school, they decided to move to Sevier County.  Corlis continued to work for Kroger and now works at the Kroger Pharmacy in Pigeon Forge. She stepped down from management in 2014.

Tom recently retired after more than 35 years in sales. They have two daughters, one son-in-law and one granddaughter.

Her involvement with the Clinic began when she met Executive Director Mary Vance at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gatlinburg. She worked as a volunteer and was then asked to join the board. “It seemed only natural, since I was at the Clinic about once a week anyway,” she said. “Since many board members are not familiar with day-to-day operations at the Clinic, I feel it gives a little insight to them.”

Corlis has served more than one term on the board and has also been board secretary.

Her pharmacy awards include Area 4 Pharmacist of the Year in 2004, and the Heidi Flye Humanitarian Award in 2008, which was mainly due to her work with the Clinic. The award included a donation for Mountain Hope.

While her daughter was in school, she was active in Pigeon Forge school PTOs and was Member of the Year in 2004.
